The assemblymen in Sabah today made an unanimous decision which approved a 66% monthly salary payrise thereby increasing their pay from RM3,300 per month to RM5,300 while the Chief Minister, the cabinet ministers, their assistance, political secretaries and the State Assembly Speaker all received an increment of more than RM1,000. This means that the Chief Minister now is paid RM15,730 from its original pay of RM14,300 per month while the Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah now earns RM13,915 from the previous RM12,500 drawn. This came about in the bill for the amendment to the Members of the Administration and Members of the Legislative Assembly (Remuneration) Enactment 1981.
